Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) and the Mama Mare Foundation Fund will host a Dance-A-Thon to benefit breast cancer research and The Cancer Hospital at RWJUH from 2-10 p.m. on August 28 in the Arline and Henry Schwartzman Courtyard. The fundraising event is being presented by the Mama Mare Foundation Fund (“Mama Mare”), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to assist cancer patients and support the advancement of biomedical research to eradicate breast cancer.

The 8-hour family event will raise funds through participant pledges, onsite auctions and raffles and independent sponsorships and donations. Proceeds will benefit Mama Mare and its efforts to aid patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer and biomedical research conducted by Dr. David Vesley, MD, a pioneer in cancer research. In addition, proceeds from the event will support the construction of a serenity room and resource center for patients at RWJUH’s Cancer Hospital. The room will give patients and their families access to educational materials and a boutique that will offer prosthesis, head coverings such as wigs and turbans, hairstyling and beauty treatments for patients. Additionally, patients and family members will have access to computers with high-speed Internet access in the resource center. Funds raised through the event will also be used to purchase iPads for patients and family members to use on all oncology units.

The Dance-A-Thon will feature entertainment, special guest services such as massage and a chance for event sponsors and donors to connect with their audiences through sponsored branding opportunities.

“Mama Mare is extremely excited about the first annual Dance-A-Thon,” said Krista Kasper, of Easton, PA, who is a former Monroe resident and founder of the Mama Mare Foundation. “It is our mission to change the lives of those affected by breast cancer and by hosting a fun, family event within our community we hope to do just that. We are looking forward to the entire community coming out and supporting this cause.”

Those interested in participating in the Dance-A-Thon, sponsoring or donating to the event or the Mama Mare Foundation Fund, should call 732-904-7885 or
