Joseph W. Devine, Senior Vice President with the Kennedy Health System, received the “Community Benefit Award” at the finale of the “Dancing With Gloucester County’s Stars” competition, raising $58,190 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Pediatric Center at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Washington Township.
The “Dancing With Gloucester County’s Stars” competitions – filmed over two nights in August – concluded with the finale, taped on Thursday, September 20th and set to air Tuesday, September 26th on Gloucester County Comcast channels. Six Gloucester County business leaders, Devine among them, competed to become the best dancer and/or the top fundraiser for the charity of their choice.
“I had a tremendous amount of support from the Kennedy family, my own family, my many friends and others in the community,” Devine, 50, a resident of Washington Township, said at the conclusion of the competition. “This was the best event I have ever been involved in – it was not only fun, but it was a tremendous way to raise money for these various charities.”
Each of the dancers and their partners were able to select the type of dance they wanted to do for the final night’s competition. Joe and his partner/dance instructor Diane Alcavage – a Kennedy relief associate when she’s not on the dance floor – were the last two competitors to take to the floor Thursday. They danced the hustle to Donna Summer’s 1978 mega-hit, “Last Dance.”
The “Dancing With Gloucester County’s Stars” finale will air on Tuesday, September 25th at 7 p.m. on Gloucester County Comcast channels.
