Catholic Health Services (CHS) recently presented its Living the Mission Award to Patricia Hendel for exemplifying the system’s mission values of respect, justice, integrity and excellence. Hendel, of the Legal Department, was nominated for her outstanding qualities and received the award from President and CEO Alan D. Guerci, MD, at CHS’s corporate offices in Rockville Centre.

“Patty is a caring person and respects everyone’s efforts, speaking up if she thinks a decision could unfairly impact someone,” said a colleague. “She advocates for all with the same diligence and also goes out of her way to accommodate the needs of other departments.” Another commented, “Patty shoulders significant administrative responsibilities and is always mindful of CHS’s mission.”

A resident of Deer Park, Hendel has been part of the legal team at CHS since 2011. Previously, she was a legal secretary for 15 years at the Long Island office of Nixon Peabody LLP’s Health Services Practice Group. Hendel was recognized annually for her high professional standards and performance at Nixon Peabody, where she coordinated and volunteered for various firm-sponsored events, including organizing blood drives with the New York Blood Center.

Hendel remains actively committed to promoting lifesaving blood donations and has served as blood captain at CHS. In addition, she assists various other charities and volunteers as a co-captain usher at her parish, Saints Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Deer Park.
