Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth/NUMC’s President/CEO, announces that Saeed Ahmed, MD, a resident in the department of psychiatry and behavioral health at the Nassau University Medical Center, had been invited to participate in the NY Psychiatric Association scholarly poster contest and won third prize. Dr. Ahmed who presented his scientific poster along with residents from New York State became one of twelve finalists and was awarded the third prize in the competition.

“We are very proud and express our congratulations to Dr. Ahmed on winning third prize at the NY Psychiatric Association scholarly poster contest. It was an exciting opportunity for him to participate and to have his scientific research discussed and selected from so many other entries,” stated Dr. Politi.

Any APA resident fellow member who is a resident or a fellow in an approved program in New York State was eligible to submit an abstract for a poster. The competition was held on March 25, 2017 at the NYSPS spring meeting at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel. Residents had to be available for poster display and discussion of their research. Winners were announced during the Council meeting and presented with an award and a certificate of participation.

Dr. Nyapati Rao, chair of the department of psychiatry and behavioral health, added: “Our departmental staff is very proud to have one of our residents win third prize at this regional state scientific competition. It highlights how our residents are involved in scholarly activity in the form of research.”
