In honor of what would have been Yogi’s 92nd birthday, May 12, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center is donating to area hospitals a selection of Yogi Berra Museum baby hats, along with free Museum memberships for the families of all children born that day. The outreach effort is part of the Museum’s mission to keep Yogi’s remarkable legacy alive for a new generation of learners and leaders, both on and off the field.
“While Yogi is sadly no longer with us, the values that made him a national treasure – respect, sportsmanship, perseverance and excellence – are more important today than ever,” says Eve Schaenen, executive director, Yogi Berra Museum. “Yogi’s entire life represents a shining example of integrity, humility and unwavering kindness. With this gift we hope to see a whole new generation sporting Yogi Berra Museum hats in his honor.”
Schaenen recently delivered the gifts to the Donna A Sanzari Women’s Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center together with the Chair of the Museum Board, Mark Markowitz. “We’re always looking for ways to let more people know about the Museum,” says Markowitz. “This donation to the young families at Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals allows us to say honestly that when it comes to baseball’s most beloved player and the ideals he represents, it ain’t over!”

The following Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals will distribute the hats on May 12: Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, Mountainside Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center, Southern Ocean Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center and Pascack Valley Medical Center. Parents will have a choice of a white, blue or pink hat for their baby.

“We are grateful to the Yogi Berra Museum for thinking of our patients as they celebrate the birth of their child,” said Manuel Alvarez, M.D., chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Donna A.
